Abstract

588,521. Compressors, regulating and controlling. BRISTOL PNEUMATIC TOOLS, Ltd., and SLADE, L. W. Feb. 26, 1945, No. 4789. [Class 8 (i)] A compressor system comprises a compressor, a control means for automatically starting and stopping the compressor, a second control means for automatically unloading the compressor, both control means being actuated in accordance with the pressure in the system, and means for selecting one or other of the control means at will. The first control means comprises a valve 10 which when connected by a three-way cock 9 to a reservoir 7 and the compressor 1 operates at predetermined pressures to open or close contacts 4 to stop or start an electric motor 2. When the cock 9 which serves as the selecting means is turned to its other position a second control valve 11 allows access of supply pressure to valve 12 which closes the compressor intake 5 and thus affords unloading of the compressor without stopping the motor. Alternatively the compressor may be unloaded by holding the normal suction valve open, The cock 9 has a bleeder to drain the control valves.
