Abstract

587,614. Electric hot-plates. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CARMALT, L. H. April 17, 1941, No. 5007. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric hot-plate for use in an industrial cooking range comprises a number of separately removable parallel elongated members 1 each of which is a rectangular body of iron cast around a sheathed heating element 2. Each member rests on knife edges 3, and all are enclosed in a frame 5. The ends 6 of the heating element are brought out below the hot plate and the connections may be such that several degrees of heat are available. In Fig. 2b, the elements may be circular or part circular, resting on radial knife edges 3. Specification 289,545, [Class 39 (iii)], is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the heating element may be embedded in a groove in a pre-cast body.
