[Class 20 (ii)] Clamping apparatus for resiliently connecting together two shutters a, b and for providing means to move them horizontally into and out of the casting position, comprises a clamp 1 fixed to the shutter a, a clamp 2 fixed to an extension of the shutter b, a curved leaf spring 13 and cam means 18 for straightening the spring. The shuttering is raised course by course by lifting apparatus, described in Specification 583,948, associated with a beam 21. The beam 21 is so connected to the clamps 1, 2 and slidably mounted on a post 23, that it has limited universal movement in relation to the clamps and to the lifting apparatus. The spring 13 is pivotally mounted, with slight play, to the clamp 1 at 14 and to an angle member, 11, fixed to the clamp 2, at 15. In use, the shuttering is placed around the site with the clamping apparatus at each corner. The cam 18 is turned to straighten the spring 13 and move the shutter a inwards until it comes into contact with the upper part of the wall previously cast ; further straightening of the spring causes the pivot 15 to move to the left which brings the shutter b into casting position. The clamps 1 and 2 have corresponding clamps at the lower edges of the shutters and the pairs of clamps 1, 1 and 2, 2 are connected by bolts 4 and 7 and nuts 5 and 8. Curved cantilever springs 19 help to distribute the pressure of the cams over the shutter b.
