468,141. Beam and column centring. McALPINE, SIR M. Dec. 30, 1935, No. 35991. [Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] Shuttering for con crete columns comprises two opposed rectangu lar plates a, to the longitudinal edges of which are adjustably secured angle-member c, and two other oppos ed rectangular plate: b abutting against the flanges of the angle members and adjust ably supported thereoi by slotted projections b<1> engaging over pins carried by projections c' on the flanges of the angle-bars c. Various widths of filling-pieces b<3> may be used with the plates b for different widths of column. The side plates a and angle bars are provided with registering keyhole slots a<1> adapted to receive keyed bolts d<1>, Fig. 7, the parts being clamped by cam nuts d<5> engaging outer projections d<4> on the bolts. The side plates a are provided with stiffeners e, with extensions a<3>, and with bearers f<2> to support the beam centring. The angle-members c are also provided with extensions c<5> forming U-shaped apertures f<6> the size of the beam to be cast. The anglemembers c are also apertured at a<2> to receive further bearers f <2> disposed at right-angles to those carried by the plates a. The beam centring comprises stiffened side plates g with adjustable angle-plates g<1> and baseplates g<2> forming the base of the beam mould, the base angle-stiffeners having extension portions g<6> which take on the bearers f<2> disposed on the column shutters. The side plates g and base-plate g<2> are also provided with adjustable extensions g<8>, g<9>, respectively, to fill the gap between the members of the beam mould and the U-shaped apertures f<6> in the extensions of the column mould. Stop plates l, provided with hooks, are used to stop off the column mould on the sides where beams are not to be cast. The beams may be cast at other angles than right-angles to the column by using beam base-plates with extensions having tapered front edges as shown in Fig. 11. The edges of the columns and the beams may be bevelled or curved by the use of filler-pieces in the angles of the moulds. The centres of the beam shutters may be further supported by adjustable props extending upwardly from the floor.
