Abstract
584,751. Seal locks. ROSSITER, W. de V. Aug. 11, 1944, No. 15373. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXI] In means for fastening the closure or door of a cabinet &c. particularly for containing fire-extinguishers, in such a manner that while immediate access in an emergency is possible, unauthorised opening of the cabinet is impossible without ready detection, part at least of either the closure, or the wall of the cabinet, or the locking member co-operating with the former parts, is made of fragile breakable material, and a striker to break the material is provided. In the embodiment described, a glass plate 6 is inserted in an opening 7 in the door 2, fitting into a peripheral groove 8 ; the shackle of a padlock 3 passes through a hole in the side of the cabinet and through a hole in the glass plate. A hinged striker 12 with pins 14 adapted to break the glass is mounted on the door, and a receptacle 16 to retain the broken glass may be provided.
