Abstract

583,255. Snap fasteners. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Oct. 2, 1944, No. 18792. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1943. [Class 44] The means for attaching the stud or socket member of a snap fastener to the supporting material comprises an annular head portion 21 and a reduced attaching portion extending therefrom and a moulded plastic insert 23 for the head portion. The insert acts as a backing for the material. The head may be completely embedded in the plastic material or, alternatively, the former may be in the form of a hollow shell completely enclosing the latter. The attaching portion comprises prongs 22 which penetrate the material 3 and are turned inwardly over an outwardly extending rim 16 of the socket member 2. The securing means for the stud member 1 may be similar to that described for the socket member or a plain ring 30 may be used. Specification 583,254 is referred to.
