Abstract
582,917. Fastenings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and TIPS, E. O. Oct. 2, 1944, No. 18824. [Class 44] A fastening for an inspection cover, panel, or the like a comprises a hook f, pivoted on a bracket e on the panel and adapted to engage a flange or lug on the fixed member to which the cover is to be secured, and a pair of toggle links i, k connected to the hook and the bracket respectively, with an operating member n passing through the cover and attached to the common pivot of the toggle links. The operating member n is preferably, as shown, a push-button, and it may be provided with a knob for withdrawal or, if the surface is required to be flush as shown, with means for engagement by a hooked tool; the latter means may comprise an undercut edge or a pin extending across an axial bore in the member n, and for this purpose the common pivot pin of the toggle links may be used, the member n being bored right through. A plate p under the bracket has re-curved edges (not shown) to hold a packing-piece which engages a seating on the flange of the fixed member carrying the cover. An emergency exit panel may be provided with a number of fastenings of this kind with their members n arranged to be operated from a single handle.
