582,666. Moulding ampoules and small containers. CHAMBERLAIN, J., and JOHNSEN & JORGENSEN FLINT GLASS, Ltd. April 18, 1944, No. 7188. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] Ampoules or other small containers are moulded in a single piece wholly from organic synthetic thermoplastic material with the neck portions closed, and immediately after removal from the mould, the bottom portion is sealed by the application of heat and pressure. The ampoule may be filled by a needle pressed through its wall, or after removal of its tip, through the neck, which is resealed. The neck may be formed with a thin wall portion for the insertion of a hypodermic needle for withdrawing the contents. A pocket 21 for a hypodermic needle may be moulded integral with the ampoule. A number of ampoules may be moulded in one operation with connecting webs which are cut when required for use. Injection moulding or moulding by blowing in a mould may be employed. Suitable materials for use are ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl esters, polyvinyl chloride with or without admixed polyvinyl acetate, or polythene.
