[Class 75 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVI] In a tubular fluorescent lamp-fitting a lamp b is housed in a reflector-trough a on the roof of which is detachably mounted a casing e for the control gear or part thereof comprising a choke c. A triple-pin plug f incorporating an insulating strip g and contact pins f<1> and f<2> is inserted into a socket h comprising tubes h' and h' with resilient contacts and j<1>. The pins f and f<2> are connected to the choke c and the tubes h<1> and h' are respectively connected to a supplyline and an electrode of the lamp. On insertion of the plug f the strip g separates the contacts and the choke is placed in series with the lamp. On withdrawing the plug the line is connected by the contacts to the electrode of the lamp. The casing e and the control gear therein can be installed remote from the lamp-fitting and the plug inserted into an alternative socket whereby the choke is placed in series with the lamp.
