Abstract

580,635. Motor-vehicle seats. AUSTIN MOTOR CO., Ltd., and CHALLENER, H. July 17, 1944, No. 13575. [Class 52 (ii)] The front seats of a motor vehicle are provided with arm rests C foldable up into recesses D in the seat back B, each arm comprising a wooden strip c secured to a metal strip E having a lug e through which passes a pivot pin f extending across a bracket F secured within the lower part of the recess. A tapered recess or notch f<2> in the bracket F takes the rear end of the metal strip E with a wedge action to keep the arm rigid in its position of use. The arm is upholstered on both sides and comes flush with the seat back in the folded position.
