Abstract

580,041. Magnetrons. M.O VALVE CO., Ltd., and HICKIN, E. M. Sept. 21, 1942, No. 13303. [Class 39 (i)] In a magnetron of the kind in which block 1 is pierced with a cavity 2 for the cathode and a number of resonating chambers 3 surround and communicate with the cathode cavity, the resonators are tuned to exactly the same frequency after manufacture by means of bolts engaging threaded holes in the block. In one form, the bolts 5, Fig. 1, enter holes in the ends of the block between the open ends of the resonators ; movement of a bolt affects the frequency of neighbouring resonators. In another form, shown in section in Fig. 2, each bolt 7 enters a resonator from the outside wall ; after adjustment it is fixed by a ring punch and hermetically sealed by solder 8.
