Abstract

578,676. Wind motors. REDMOND, N. March 11, 1944, No. 4547. Convention date, July 14, 1943. [Class 110 (iii)] The blades 4, 5 of a wind motor carry speedregulating flaps 8 on pivots 9, which divide each flap into unequal parts, as shown. Under excessive speeds of rotation, the flaps turn on their pivots, acting against springs 13, 131 secured to cross bars 1 rigid with the blades. The area of the trailing portion of each flap is between 0.3 and 0.45 of the whole flap area. A weight 17 is attached as shown, or may be attached to the convex face or be distributed between both faces. The weighted rear portion may overbalance the weight of the front portion of each flap. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 532,668.
