577,708. Refrigerating. BATES, G. R., and BRADSHAW'S MOTOR HOUSE, Ltd. Feb. 29, 1944, Nos. 3723 and 10439. [Class 29] [Also in Group XXX] Moulded articles of natural or synthetic rubber, synthetic resins &c. are cooled by passing them through a tubular or other conduit 2 surrounded by a brine chamber cooled by evaporator coils 6. The apparatus comprises two or more sections A, B, Fig. 1, of a heat-insulated brine chamber, one section A being supported on bearers 1 and another section B supported by the first. The brine in the chambers is cooled by evaporator coils 6 connected in parallel to a compression machine, and the brine may be circulated by an impeller 15 driven by a motor 16 on the casing. A thermometer 14, sight holes 13 and drain cocks 11 are fitted. In the cooling of moulded rods or cables &c. covered with moulded material the rods &c. are passed through a copper tube 2 supported in an apertured sleeve 3. The tube 2 may be exchanged for another of a size to suit the dimensions of the particular rod &c. to be cooled. For treating separate smaller articles an endless conveyer 20, Fig. 5 is used, having reinforced rubber or other flexible partitions 20a. The band is supported in the conduit 2 by rollers 23.
