Abstract

576,781. Cycle locks. FITZPATRICK, H., and FITZPATRICK, A. A. Feb. 25, 1944, No. 3498. [Class 79 (iii)] A lock housing E, F is brazed or otherwise fixed in the top tube C or bottom tube D of the cycle frame, a separate lock G having a bolt g<2> being afterwards inserted through the top or bottom opening of the steering head B into the housing, where it is secured by a spring-pressed plunger g engaging a hole f<2> in the housing. The lock is controlled by a key inserted through holes d, f<1> in the frame and the housing into a keyhole g<1> in the lock, and the bolt g<2> can be shot into a hole L in a,plate K brazed to the steering stem A, the plate being so situated that the front wheel is locked at an angle. The lock housing may be in one piece, or as shown, in two parts E, F, brazed together. The part E is U-shaped and is a snug fit in the tube C or D ; the part F is also U-shaped and is fixed in the part E at a suitable angle, according to whether the lock is in the top tube C or the bottom tube D, so as to position the lock perpendicular to the axis of the steering stem A.
