Abstract
576,424. Resilient mountings. A.V.A., Ltd., and PENTONY, T. H. Dec. 24, 1943, No. 21647. [Class 108 (iii)] A cushioning device for machinery accessories, dynamos, engines, instruments &c. comprises a coiled spring 2 embedded in a solid block 1 of indiarubber or like material, means being provided for transmitting stresses from any direction, including tensile and compressive stresses in the direction of the axis of the spring, to the ends of the rubber block and at the same time to the spring embedded therein. The means for transmitting stresses may comprise plates or discs 3 bonded or otherwise secured to the opposite ends of the rubber block and provided with projections 5 fitting into the ends of the spring. The device is secured in position by screwthreaded spindles 4 preferably integral with the plates 3. In other constructions (a) the body 1 is frusto-conical and the spring substantially so ; (b) the body and spring are both waisted; and (c) two conical springs each co-axial with end spindles are embedded in a rubber block of rectangular cross-section provided with rectangular end plates. The body 1 may be of any cross-section and, for mounting heavy units, several springs may be embedded in it. According to the Provisional Specification each plate may be welded to the adjacent end of the spring.
