Abstract
576,304. Electric insulating compositions. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 16, 1943, No. 2542. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1942. Drawings to Specification. [Class 140] An electric insulating composition comprises chlorinated diphenyl benzene and hydrogenated castor oil. The power factor of the ;nixture is lower than the power factor of either ingredient individually. The chlorine content of the chlorinated diphenyl benzene may be from 14 to 60 per cent. and the composition may contain from 97 to 40 parts of chlorinated diphenyl benzene and from 3 to 60 parts of hydrogenated castor oil. The composition may also include tetrachlorobenzene (e.g., 1:2:4:5-tetrachlorobenzene), chlorinated naphthalene (e.g., tetracl.loronaphthalene), and highly chlorinated diphenyl, diphenyl ether, and diphenylene oxide.
