Abstract
575,583. Frequency modulation. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 27, 1944, No. 5592. Convention date, March 27, 1943. [Class 40 (v)] A discriminator circuit for frequency modulation receivers is arranged so that a tuning indicator of the cathode ray type may be connected directly to it. The circuit is of the type in which the signal rectifiers are fed with equal voltages from the primary of a pair of coupled timed circuits, and also with equal and opposite voltages from the secondary of the coupled pair. The rectifiers 3, 4, are fed through blocking condensers 10, 11, from the ends of the secondary circuit 9, 9<1>, the centre point 9<11> of the inductance 9 being earthed. The rectifiers 3, 4 are also fed from the primary circuit 8, 8<1>, via the condensers 17, 18. The anode 22 of the tuning indicator tube 20 is connected to the primary circuit 8, 8', and the control electrodes 24, 25, to the ends of the secondary 9, 9<1>. The shadow angles in the two controlled sectors of the tube are equal when in tune, while modulation of the carrier is indicated by " fluttering " of the shadows. Specification 489,094 is referred to.
