[Class 38 (i)] A self-aligning electric socket comprises two resiliently connected plates or clamping members adapted to embrace a plug pin d at one end and a terminal or connector at the other end. In the construction shown in Figs. ] and 2, the two plates b, b<1> have channelled ends e of semi-circular shape and are connected by a flat pin f around which is coiled a spring g so as to urge the plates together. The terminal c, held in one end of the plates, is secured to the base a by a nut i whilst lugs i, formed on the opposite ends of the plates, maintain the socket in position by engaging an undercut formation i<1> in the base which also permits the positioning of the plates on the terminal so that the socket can occupy a position in alignment with plug pins of varying diameters. In a modification Fig. 5 (not shown) each plate is channelled at one end and flat for the remainder of its length. According to Fig. 6, the semi-circular ends of the plates b<3>, b<4> embrace the plug pin d whilst the other ends are flat and are resiliently secured on opposite sides of a terminal block c<1> by a pin f<4> passing through the block and having a spring g<1> coiled round it, operating compressively between the enlarged end f of the pin and the closed end of a thimble m.
