574,318. Automatic guns. DOBREMYSL, J. Nov. 11, 1939, No. 29872. [Class 92 (ii)] Automatic guns of the Bren type, in which the breech bolt tilts for unlocking and slides rearwardly to open the breech, have the surface of the breech bolt in contact with the cartridge in the magazine inclined from front to rear in a direction towards the magazine or arranged parallel to the direction of recoil when the breech bolt occupies the unlocked position. In the form shown, the breech block 7 tilting downwardly for unlocking has its upper surface 11 inclined upwardly and rearwardly so that the cartridges resting on the block exert under the influence of the magazine feed spring 10 a pressure tending to assist recoil, there being no lift of the cartridges into the magazine during the recoil movement.
