Abstract

574,194. Two-part couplings. JONES, A. R. H. Jan. 13, 1944, No. 680. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A hot water bottle 10 carries an immersion electric heater A, B, mounted in a moulded screw cap 12 which carries the terminal pins 13 within an internally threaded ring 14. Connection is made by a plug 19 having sockets 20, which is placed in position and secured by a threaded ring 21 which is movable over the flex 15. The heater elements A, B are connected together at C, which is connected to one of the pins 13, and the other ends of the elements are connected to the other pins 13. A switch 16 enables the elements to be connected in series, in parallel, or only one element, to obtain three different temperatures, or, if the elements have unequal resistances they may be connected in series or either element may be used alone. Alternatively, only two connections may be used, for either of the elements alone. In another arrangement, a single heating element only may be used.
