573,404. Securing panels; glazing. BRAITHWAITE & CO., ENGINEERS, Ltd., and PARTRIDGE, F. A. June 22, 1943, No. 10015. [Classes 20 (iii) & 20 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] A clip device for securing panels of walls, ceilings, doors, windows, or the like, and particularly described as applied to securing adjacent panels 16, 17 to a building frame of the kind described in Specification 560,814 comprises a head 18 providing a strip of suitable length (which may be cut as required from a stock length), and provided throughout its length or at suitable intervals with resilient limbs 19, 21 shaped to provide shoulders 22 which snap into engagement behind the marginal portions of a slot in the support after the limbs have been forced through the space between the panel edges and through the slot. The limbs are spaced so that they spring apart into close abutment against the edges of the panels and slot as in Fig. 3 to centre the device and provide a weather seal. To improve the abutment of the limbs against the edges of the slot and panels, they may be outwardly bowed, or cranked, as in Fig. 7, which shows a modified clip for outside use with thick panels 20, the parts 21a abutting against the edges of the panels &c. A rubber strip may also be provided between the limbs to aid their outward resilience. The head 18 is preferably resilient and arched so that it has to be deformed by pressure to enable the shoulders 22 to pass from the entering position, Fig. 2, to the securing position, Fig. 3, in which the deformation of the head serves to clamp the panels tightly on the support. Alternatively, the head may be rigid and rubber strips interposed between its edges and the panels. The limbs may be integral with the head or separately formed and secured thereto by rivets or other means. The head may be encased in a decorative strip. The support shown in Figs. 2, 3 is of the kind referred to above and comprises frame members 10, 11 providing a V-groove filled flush by a triangular connecting piece 14 having coplanar jaws 15 co-operating with the clip.
