[Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Groups II and XXII] Apparatus for the production of annealed, flattened wire comprises wire-flattening rolls a from which flattened wire b passes through a heated tube furnace c, preferably heated by an electric resistance wire, to a cooling tube d and into which an inert gas may be admitted by tube g located near the exit end of furnace c, and finally through the cooling tube d to a winding-on spool. The cooling tube d and the furnace c may be arranged one below the other, the wire passing through them in counterdirection.
