Abstract

[Class 137] [Also in Group XI] In an air heater comprising an electric heating unit 2 consisting of a box with heating elements and reflectors K mounted in an aperture in the front of a hollow casing 1 to be supported on a wall so that air heated by passing over the back of the unit 2 is discharged through front openings 16 in the casing above the unit, a fan 18 near the top of the opening draws air up through the casing and directs it forward into the room through openings between slats 20 in the casing above and independent of the openings 16 for the heated air so that rising hot air does not mark the wall. A vertical partition 8, divides the rising air, the heated air in channel 9 being diverted forwards by a sloping partition 15, the front edge of which is of heat-resistant material. Air enters the base of the casing through holes 11 therein or though hole 12 in the wall 13. An air deflector 21 is placed above the fan and above the slots 20, and the air is deflected forwardly and downwards. The fan also drives the air horizontally through a slot 17 between across member 14 and the partition 15 thereby facilitating flow of heated air from the slot 16. The heating unit 2 has a front flange 5 and is mounted so that the flange and sides of the unit are spaced from the casing. Specifications 415,561, [Group XI], and 456,461 are referred to.
