Abstract
569,957. Filing papers. CARDY, W. L. Sept. 9, 1943, Nos. 14804 and 19095. [Class 146 (i)] For securing perforated papers upon a cord 9 threaded therethrough, a follower member is provided having a perforation through which the cord passes and a member movablymounted within the body thereof to obstruct the perforation and clamp the cord to the follower member. In one form, Fig. 4, the cord is fixed at one end to a flat disc 8 and the follower member consists of three discs secured together, the middle disc being cut away to receive a V-shaped spring 7. One arm 3 of the spring is fixed to the discs and the other arm 5 normally clamps the cord 9 against the edge of the perforation 2 in the follower, but can be retracted by finger-pieces 6 to release the cord. In one modification, a member slidable between the outer discs has a wedgeshaped edge to grip the cord. The slidable member may be operated by a cam member rotatable relatively to the disc. According to a further modification, Fig. 8, a member 18 pivoted at 19 between the discs 11, 12 is provided with a cam slot 22 to clamp the cord. The member 18 instead of being pivoted, may be circular and rotate within edge flanges on one of the discs 11, 12. Also, the outer edge. of the member 18 may be formed as the cordclamping cam. A radial slot 20 may be provided in the parts 11, 12, 18 to permit of the insertion of the cord from the edge. The cordclamping device may be mounted on the disc 8 in which case the cord is threaded through the papers and passed around the edge thereof before being threaded through the perforation in the disc and clamped.
