Abstract

569,268. Electromagnetic relays. SIEMENS BROS., & CO., Ltd., and BRYAN, E. A. Oct. 8, 1943, No. 16533. [Class 38 (v)] In a relay, .wherein the armature 23 is secured to a cantilever spring 10 and is adapted to pivot about one pole of the electromagnet, suitable tension is applied to the spring by means of a tongue 13 extending from it and having tension applied to it near its end. In the form shown the tongue bears against the underside of the head of an adjustable screw 21 but the screw could be arranged to bear upwardly on the tongue in which case an additional downwardly pressing member is arranged between the screw and the armature. The spring 10 may carry contacts adapted to move between fixed contacts on springs 8 and 9 which bear on adjustable screw stops. A guard 25 for the contacts is provided and the whole apparatus enclosed in a cover 32 which is sealed in a fluid-tight manner to a back plate consisting of a layer of rubber 27 compressed between two rigid plates. The leads 29 have bulbous portions 30 trapped between the rubber and a rigid plate. Moisture absorbing material may be arranged within the cover and the latter may have a fluid tight window for viewing the contacts. Specifications 385,692 and 405,436 are referred to.
