[Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups V and XXIX] The figure shows a container 15, for heating plastic material which includes a materialcontaining tube 25 the bottom part of which is heated by an electric resistance 26 wound there-around. The resistance element proper may be embedded in magnesium oxide covered with a protective metal sheath. The resistance is clamped against the tube by halfsleeves 27. An aperture 37 in the bottom of the tube registers with an aperture 34 in an asbestos bottom plate 33. The material in the tube may be stirred. Egress of material from the tube is controlled by a manuallyoperated scissors-like valve 39. The upper part of the tube 25 may be kept filled with inert gas.
