568,644. Retractable undercarriages. MARTIN, J. C. Sept. 3, 1943, No. 14421. [Class 4] A retractable undercarriage comprises a drag link unit formed by three links 2, 3, 4, connected to the main aircraft structure at 5 and by a link 6 to a hydraulic jack 8, a folding drag strut 14, 15, pivoted to the aircraft structure at one end 16 and at the other end to the undercarriage leg 18, and a link 11 which connects the joint 10 of the drag link unit and the joint 13 of the folding strut. The length of the link 11 is adjustable, and the leg 18 is provided with a shock-absorber. A catch may be fitted to retain the undercarriage structure in the retracted position.
