Abstract
568,319. Lenses. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. April 12, 1943, No. 5868. [Class 97 (i)] In a lens having high corrections for comparatively small apertures and narrow semi-angular fields when made up in long focal lengths, and of the type comprising a simple divergent component between two convergent components each consisting of a bi-convex convergent element cemented to a divergent element of lower mean refractive index and AbbÚ V number, the contact surfaces being convex towards the middle component, the mean refractive indices of the two elements of the front convergent component differ from one another by not less than . 055, and the radius of curvature of the contact surface betweeen them lies between .25 and .40 times the focal length of the objective. Other numerical data relative to the desirable optical properties, radii of curvature, and separation of the components are set out, and tables of data for two examples are given.
