Abstract

567,260. Magnesium fluoride. OCEAN SALTS (PRODUCTS), Ltd., HARKNESS, M. L. R., and SOS, F. L. May 29, 1943, No. 8605. [Class 1 (iii)] Pure magnesium fluoride, in the form of a crystalline precipitate which will settle and filter rapidly, is prepared by gradually introducing sodium fluoride solution in a finely divided state (e.g. by means of a revolving spray) into a dilute magnesium sulphate solution (preferably not more than 15 per cent) while this is being agitated, the rate of introduction of the sodium fluoride solution being about 0.04 mls. or less per minute per square centimetre of the surface of the magnesium sulphate solution. Specification 540,076 is referred to.
