Abstract

565,404. Grinding or polishing diamonds &c. JEARUM, F. C. Sept. 9, 1943, No. 4283. [Class 60] Means for mounting holders for diamonds or other stones, or hand tool metals, for generating forms thereon by oscillation in a plane normal to the cutting disc, as in Specification 565,399, comprises a pair of beds located at an angle which is bisected by the central plane of the mounting means to which the oscillating motion is imparted, the arrangement being such that when one corner of the stone, positioned on one bed, has been rounded &c., the stone is transferred to the other bed for rounding the other. Fig. 4 shows a wedge-shaped stone &c. 10 mounted in a recess in a holder 11, the corners 10a, 11a of the stone being rounded by mounting the holder on the beds 1a, 1b, Fig. 2, in succession, the beds being formed on the sides of the right-angled member 1. The holder is held between ledges 1c, 1d and a clamp 2b, the holders being adjusted by screws 3 furnished with shoulders 3a. The member 1 is fitted with a clamp 1g embracing a sleeve 4 axially adjustable along a bored member 5 by means of screws 5b. The member 5 is supported by a vertical slider 7'mounted on a post 8a projecting from a base 9 provided on its underside with flanges to fit a feed on the radial arm of the oscillating device.
