[Class 106 (i)] [Also in Group XV] A recording apparatus for producing in sequence upon a common record sheet duplicate entries of indicia entered in any one of a plurality of entry spaces upon an individual record sheet of an interchangeable plurality thereof, comprises a device for progressively feeding the common record sheet to present the succeeding sequential record receiving spaces thereon into record receiving position, a carrier for the individual record sheet adjustable longitudinally bf the common record sheet so a,s to present a selected record space on the inserted individual record sheet in record receiving position, and means automatically ensuring that the succeeding sequential record receiving space of the common record sheet is then in registry therewith in the record receiving position, there being a stratum of transfer material interposed between the respective sheets. A ledger card and a customer's duplicate 36 are inserted into the enlarged opening 33 of a carrier 30, movable over a folded record strip 14. The carrier is moved longitudinally to bring the appropriate space under the usual writing space 4 and a record is made on the top card 36 and through carbons on the lower card and the record strip. A plate 39 prevents removal of the cards 36 when in recording position, and when the carrier is returned to change the cards, it actuates a spring-pressed pawl 20 to step on a ratchet 19 to advance the record strip and the carbons. The upper carbon 15, Fig. 8, may be interleaved with a flap 38 on a central tongue 35 so as not to interfere with the cards on insertion.
