Abstract

561,824. Press 'button retractive switches. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and METCALFE, F. Feb. 27, 1943, No. 3260. [Class 38 (v)] A retractive switch has at least two contact members adapted.to bridge pairs of contacts simultaneously, and dash-pot means for retarding'the return of at least one of the contact closing members. Thus, in the example, the contact member 7, displaceable against a spring 5 on a stem 3 and a further contact member 8 displaceable against a spring 6 on a second, co-axial stem 4 and connected to a dashpot device 14 so that on pressing button 2 the contacts are simultaneously closed and the dashpot operated to drive air from a cylinder 15 through a non-return valve 16, while, on releasing the button, contact 7 opens its contacts immediately but stem 4 separates from stem 3 and spring 19 returns contact 8 after an interval determined by the setting of a needle valve 21.
