Abstract

557,473. Polyvinyl acetal films. DALMAS & CO., Ltd., A. DE ST., and ATHERLEY, S.W. Aug. 18, 1942, No. 11580. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Groups VIII and VI] A film of plasticized polyvinyl acetal resin is coated with an adhesive to form a surgical adhesive dressing. The resin, made by condensing hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate with formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, or butyraldehyde, is mixed with a plasticizer such as dimethyl glycol phthalate, di-isobutyl phthalate or triethyl citrate, dissolved in a mixture of acetone, ethyl acetate and trichlorethylene or methylene chloride and trichlorethylene and cast into a film, if desired with a roughened surface as described in Specification 441,988 or with embedded gauze as described in Specification 448,164, [Group VI]. Specification 427,491, [Group VI], also is referred to.
