Abstract
557,422. Wheel chocks. MORGENSEN, O. May 19, 1942, No. 6807. [Class 103 (i)] A chock particularly for aeroplane wheels comprises a base frame 1 to which is pivotally attached a V-shaped toe piece 4 integral with a normally upwardly inclined frame 7 supported by a strut 11 which is detachably connected to plates 10, 12 on the members 7, 1 by pins 13, 14. To permit adjustment of the effective length of the strut a number of holes 22 is provided therein for the pin 13. The frame 7 may be pivoted to the member 4 instead of being integral with it. The means for attaching the strut to the frame 7 may instead comprise a spigot carried by a rotatable sleeve on the transverse bar 9 of the frame 7 and adapted to enter the end of the strut. The frame 1 is provided with a web 16 to prevent the chock from sinking into soft ground. The disposition of the bar 9 with respect to the toe piece 4 is so arranged that when the wheel tyre is in engagement with the bar 9 the tyre further overlies the toe piece at the parts 20, 21 so that it is pressed on to the ground. The chock may be withdrawn by a cable 18.
