Abstract
557,080. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). April 30, 1942, No. 5840. [Class 112] A feed-bar 35 is supported by a rocker 38 and a feed lift arm 45. The arm 45 is fast on a shaft 47 which carries at its other end an arm coupled to the rod of an eccentric on the under-shaft 26. The rocker 38 is actuated from an adjustable-throw eccentric 69 on the shaft 26 through a two-armed lever 71, 75 pivotally mounted on the shaft 47. The arms 71, 75 are integral with separate bosses adjustably clamped together. Both shafts 26, 47 are situated beyond the plane of rotation of the looptaker which is carried by a transverse shaft driven from the shaft 26 by skew gearing. The gearing is enclosed in an oil chamber and the whole of the feed mechanism is to one side of that chamber.
