547,867. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Sept. 5, 1941. No. 11358. [Class 112] In a scale pan type sewing-machine, the feed-cup shaft 52 is geared by wheels 50, 51 to an actuating shaft 30 which is intermittently rotated by means of a friction clutch 34 in association with a reverse-motionpreventing clutch 37. The clutch 34 is actuated through an N-shaped lever which is fulcrumed on the shaft 30 at 27<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>11</SP> and straddles the gear-wheel 51. One end of the lever is connected to a plate 31 of the clutch and the other end to a lever 20 fulcrumed on an adjustable pivot pin 22 and actuated by an eccentric. The shaft 52 is positioned by a collar 53 and the wheel 51 and the feed-cup is adjustable axially. The presser-cup shaft is mounted on a bracket 9 having two bars 10 which slide in the machine frame.
