[Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] A governor 12, 13 actuates a throttle valve &c. 61 through a linkage which includes a primary lever 25 connected with a sleeve 26 oscillating on a hollow pivot 27 and formed with vanes 42, 44, and a secondary lever 45 connected to a tube 47 oscillating round the same pivot and formed with internal bosses 53, 54 forming with the sleeve 26 chambers 48 ... 51 in which the vanes 42, 44 move. The pivot is a hollow tube formed with ports such as 39 on opposite sides of a central partition, variation of speed brings a port 39 into register with a port 41 in the sleeve 26 causing oil to flow through the pivot into one of the chambers 48, 49 and out of the other into the open end of the pivot and so to the interior of the casing. The vane 42 is thus moved in relation to the tube 47 varying the transmission of the governor effect. The variation is resisted by the damping action of the vane 44 which may have a small hole drilled in it or may be provided with an adjustable byepass 63.
