Abstract
555,719. Valves. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd. (Superheater Co.). Sept. 28, 1942, No. 13588. Addition to 533,391. [Class 135] A regulator valve of the kind claimed in the parent Specification has the lift plug providing a bearing surface for the fingers on the actuating shaft secured in the upper portion of the stirrup by removable fastening means and is removable from the stirrup without detaching the latter from the balancing piston of the valve. The balancing piston is either formed integrally with the valve spindle or is formed by a separate ring or member screwed and welded to a smaller head 16 formed on the spindle 9. In the form shown on the right of the drawing a head 19 on the stirrup 10 is placed in position before the ring 15 is screwed in place. In the case of the integral piston and the separate piston shown on the left of the drawing the U-shaped stirrup is formed with lug 18 and the arms of the heated stirrup are first bent inwards and then expanded to engage a groove in the piston. The plug 20 of tool steel provided with a wear face 21 of the material sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Stellite " or other wear resisting metal or alloy is made a sliding fit in the upper part of the stirrup and is secured in place by a transverse rivet 22.
