Abstract
554,810. Cap spinning frames. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. Aug. 10, 1942, No. 11169. Convention date, Sept. 13 1941. [Class 120 (ii)] The size of the balloon and tension on the yarn between the guide and edge of the cap of a spinning and twisting frame is increased during the spinning operation by providing an annular ring on the cap and moving it longitudinally with respect to the cap; as the spinning proceeds the edge of the cap engages the yarn and so increases the effective diameter of the cap. As shown the cap 1 fits on the squared portions 13 of a shaft 5 disposed in a fixed hollow shaft 6 upon which the bobbin 4 revolves and which supports an inner shell 7 having a pin 12 engaging a slot 16 at the upper end of the shaft 6. The annular ring 10 carries pins 14 engaging the intersecting portions of arcuate slots 8, 9, one in the cap and the other in the shell, and during the spinning operation the spindle 5 is turned by hand or by driving means operating in timed relation to the bobbin rotating means so that the member 10 is moved longitudinally down the cap.
