Abstract

554,679. Sifting - apparatus. NORDBERG MANUFACTURING CO., and BURLS, J. P., April 15, 1942, No. 4964. [Class 117] The mesh or perforated metal sheet element 1 of a screen is supported and tensioned by flexible tubes 6 inflatable with gas or liquid. The tubes may be separately inflated or connected to a common manifold with a single inflating valve. In the construction described the screen frame is mounted on resilient supports and vibrated by an unbalanced rotating member. The inflatable supports are mounted on rigid transverse members 3, 4, which may be disposed to impart an arcuate surface to the screen. The longitudinal or transverse edges of the screen are secured to the frame, for example by being drawn down into angle members by correspondingly shaped clamps.
