Abstract

553,559. Affixing adhesive tapes &c. CONNOLLY, F. J. Dec. 10, 1941, No. 15933. Divided out of 553,541. [Class 73] In a hand appliance for affixing adhesive tape, ribbon or like strips, in which the strip is fed through a curved guide e surrounding a casing a which serves as a handle, as described in Specification 553,541, the casing is provided with a detachable and interchangeable nozzle head b, and is fitted with a water bag h. The nozzle b houses a wick c coiled round a pin p on which is pivoted a two-armed lever d. the arms of which are closed at one end to form an operating handle d<SP>1</SP>, and at their other end support two revoluble rollers r, r<SP>1</SP>, one serving as a device to clamp the strip against the article to which it is to be attached, and the other to press the gumming side of the strip against the protruding portion of the wick c<SP>3</SP> these rollers may be geared together. Beyond the roller r, a cutting blade q is carried by a cross bar d<SP>2</SP> of the lever d. Water from the bag h in the casing a is supplied to packing material surrounding the wick through a passage f<SP>3</SP> normally closed by a spring-controlled valve g.
