Abstract

551,263. Carburetters. FLEETWOOD, H. C. Dec. 28, 1942, No. 14340/41. [Class 7 (iii)] Fuel supply is cut off when the engine is over-running with closed throttle, by mounting the needle of the usual valve D, shown in Fig. 1, for adjusting the slow-running passage C, E, so that it can be closed independently of the adjustment of the screw D as shown in Fig. 2, the needle being closed, against the action of a spring L, by a solenoid (not shown) in circuit with the dynamo and a switch which is closed with the throttle. In a modification, the spring tends to close a needle valve in the air leak to the slow-running passage, and the solenoid opens the valve. Specification 261,022, [Class 7 (iii)], is referred to.
