Abstract

550,301. Gas-blast switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 16, 1941, No. 16207. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1940. [Class 38 (v)] The arc drawn between a movable contact 2 and a fixed contact 1 in an enclosure 6 having one side 6<SP>1</SP> open to atmosphere, is blown upon by converging blasts from pipes 8, 10 which open into the space 6 by two sets of flat aligned nozzles 9, 11, those of pipe 10 interlacing those of the pipe 8. In Fig. 3 a pair of oppositelydirected nozzles 16, 17 open out of a passage 14 in an annular body 13, and are arranged to project jets 16<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP> which are offset with respect to one another.
