Abstract
549,716. Raising water. MACDOUGALL, A., and RAMAGE, E. D. M. July 2, 1941, No. 8341. [Class 102 (ii)] Apparatus for raising water comprises a closed chamber a with a hinged non-return inlet flap valve c at or near the foot thereof, a discharge pipe f extending through .and terminating at or near the foot of the chamber where it is provided with a hinged non-return flap valve g, and a manually operated air pump k connected to the chamber by a length of flexible rubber piping j provided with an air valve l. The latter is closed when the pump is operated to discharge water from the chamber, and is then opened to allow air within the chamber to exhaust freely, and to allow more water to enter the chamber. The valves c, g may have counterweights d, h, and the former a filter e. Specification 539,418 is referred to.
