[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] The mandrel 4, located within the die 5, is secured to, or integral with, a mandrel carrier 8 which extends through a hollow extruding plunger 3 and through a press table 6 which is attached by rods 10 to a main press table 7 moved by a hydraulic ram<SP> </SP>18. At its rear end the carrier 8 is fixedly supported in a crosspiece 9, which is adjustably fixed on two horizontal supporting columns on which the press tables slide. Webs 12 support the mandrel in the tapering bore 22. A plunger T-shaped in cross-section may be used for extruding T-shaped sections, and a ring shaped plunger may be used for a tube.
