Abstract

547,642. Storing fluids under pressure. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., and BROCK, D. T. Aug. 25, 1941, No. 10834. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A gas bottle &c. comprises a cylindrical body circumferentially reinforced, e.g. by wire 18 secured at the ends by tabs 21 on collars 19, and formed with. a longitudinal slot or slots 22 sealed by welding. Excessive pressure causes leakage along the slots in place of bursting. The slots may be closed by a strip of metal of less ductility than the body and may be combined with cross slots left open ; alternatively the slots may be the welded joints of a body formed in longitudinal halves. The wire winding may be replaced by a sheath shrunk on to the body. Specification 488,534 is referred to.
