[Class 125 (i)] A stopper 10 which will indicate any attempt at tampering with it, or any attempt to refill the (container, has a closed float body 16 which can move in a perforated guide cap 14; the float is held normally by a heavy spherical body 62 in the position shown in Fig. 1, in which the closed base 60 of the float rests upon the inner part of a resilient annular member 32 the outer part of which is gripped between the flange 46 of the guide cap and the shoulder 18 of the casing. The top of the casing is out-turned to form a top 28 and a skirt 30 which can be rolled against the container neck to hold the stopper securely in position. The guide cap 14 is held by a top plate 50 with a raised central portion 52, the plate being secured by the bulged rim 76. Perforations 56 are made in this plate and baffles 58 are provided to prevent the insertion of an instrument for interference. When the bottle is tilted to discharge its contents the float is raised against the weight of the sphere-62 and the liquid is discharged through the openings 36, 44, 56. If any adulterant is passed through the openings 56, the openings 36, 44 are closed by the float, which may then be depressed by the added fluid until the recess 66 is engaged by the resilient member 32 to lock the float in position. When the bottle is tilted, the adulterant will flow out through the openings 42, 56. In a modified form, the valve device is situated same distance below the top flange 28 so that a cork or similar plug can be fitted in the opening of the neck above the one-way device.
