Abstract
544,501. Air-screws. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. Dec. 19, 1940, No. 17882. [Class 114] In an arrangement for attaching spinners and nosecaps to the hubs of air-screws of the kind in which rubber bushes are associated with the supports or with the front and/or back-plates mounted on the hub, the sockets for the rubber bushes are either wholly or partially formed integrally with the spinner support, or with a flange on the spinner, or are made in co-axially arranged parts secured to opposite sides of the support or flange, the object being to dispense with the use of rivets in securing the sockets, or to reduce the stresses on the rivets, when such are employed. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the spinner a is supported at its forward end upon pins h, which form extensions of the hub bolts i, by means of rubber bushes f that are engaged in sockets e formed integrally with the front support c, and at its rear end upon the back support d by means of pins h<SP>1</SP> engaging rubber bushes f<SP>1</SP>, the sockets e<SP>1</SP> of which are integral with flanges k secured to the spinner a. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 one part I. of a two-part socket is riveted to the other part e<SP>2</SP> which is integral with the support c, while in that shown in Fig. 3 the two parts m of the socket are secured by common rivets to the support c. The rubber bushes may be flanged at their ends and may also have a metal liner. Specification 544,425 is referred to.
