Abstract

544,210. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Feb. 6, 1941, No. 1573. [Class 112] The needle-bar 3C reciprocates in the part 33 of a frame 34 which is vibrated laterally for feeding the work. The frame is hung upon a conical pivot 37 adjustably secured in a bush 40 which is positioned in the head 10 by a screw 44. The frame is' oscillated by a crank 50 on a feed shaft 15, the crank-pin 48 entering a pivot block 47 which is slidingly mounted in a slot 46 in the frame 34. The crank 50 and the head 51 of the pin 48 have broad flat surfaces engaging the faces on the frame. The pitman 23 by which the needle bar is reciprocated and the middle part of the frame 34 are on opposite sides of the crack 19. A crank arm 52 in one with the crank pin 22 has a hole 53 concentric with the needle-bar shaft 14 and the trunnion of rotary take-ups 58, 59 is fixed in this hole.
