[Class 114] In a screw fan, the leading edge 2 of each blade is straight and lies substantially in a plane of rotation, the inner end of the trailing edge 4 forms an angle of about 30 degrees with the leading edge, both edges if projected would intersect the axis of rotation, and the outer end of the trailing edge is connected by a curve 5 to a straight portion 6 which meets the leading edge at an angle of about 60 degrees. With two or more blades, all the leading edges are in the same plane of rotation, and with a pair of blades the leading edges may lie along a common diameter of the boss 3 or be slightly offset relative to one another. The whole of the trailing edges of each blade lies in a plane which contains the leading edge and is at an angle to the plane of rotation. In radial and axial directions, the working face of each blade may be concave or partly concave and partly flat, whilst the following face may be convex or partly convex and partly flat, the concavities and convexities being most marked where the blade is widest. According to the Provisional Specification the working face may be flat.
